  • Emmanuel Adebayor, 35, is a free agent after leaving Turkish side Kayserispor

  • Adebayor has scored 97 Premier League goals but is desperate to get to 100

Three Premier League clubs are weighing up a move for Emmanuel Adebayor and the former Arsenal striker is desperate to return to England.

Aston Villa, Newcastle and Brighton are all preparing to offer Adebayor, 35, a short-term contract as they look to add a goalscorer to their respective ranks.

Adebayor is a free agent having left Turkish outfit Kayserispor in December so the Premier League trio would not have to sign him before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The 6ft 3in experienced forward has been playing in Turkey since joining Istanbul Basaksehir in January 2017.

His last Premier League goal came for Crystal Palace on February 13, 2016 when he scored in the Eagles’ 2-1 home defeat by Watford.

He first moved to England 14 years ago when Arsene Wenger brought him to north London from Monaco for just £3million.

His most memorable moment in the Premier League came when he sprinted the full length of the pitch to celebrate scoring against Arsenal for Manchester City in September 2009.
